Events with sustainable practices?

Fecha  27-05-21

In an industry that creates opportunities for everyone, sustainability must be essential. Working to ensure the lowest possible impact of our sector’s activities will bring extraordinary benefits to our communities.

At Ágora Bogotá, we believe it is possible to reduce the impact of our industry when we have the right infrastructure and technologies. Today, on World Water Day, we share five practices we implement in our building to be more environmentally friendly:

1. We collect rainwater:
Our 80x80-meter flat roof allows us to store large volumes of rainwater, which we later process and reuse to supply the building’s wastewater system. This way, we ensure smart resource use without waste.

2. We use natural ventilation:
Thanks to our building’s “gills” — a technological system of vertical glass windows that regulate air flow — we can avoid using electronic ventilation systems. This helps us maintain air quality while minimizing mechanical support.

3. We regulate our energy consumption:
We have a modern management system that learns the building’s work schedules, keeping lights on only in occupied areas. In addition, our escalators have energy accumulators, and our elevators are designed for low electricity consumption.

4. We maximize natural light:
Our building features more than 16,000 m² of glass façades, allowing abundant natural light to fill our spaces and reducing the need for artificial lighting.

5. We recycle responsibly:
We separate our waste into two main categories: recyclable and non-recyclable. Recyclables are sent to a waste separation center for proper treatment, while organic waste is processed through an on-site pulping system that reduces transport volume and produces low-contamination residues.

At Ágora Bogotá, we know firsthand that it’s possible to host events with an environmental conscience. As a convention center, we are committed to implementing sustainable practices that make us more respectful of our surroundings — offering our clients extraordinary, safe, and sustainable events.
